A Best Friends Angels Rest Pet Memorial from a Friend

T.B.O.

2005 – 2024

T.B.O. was my sweetest baby, my best friend for 19 years. My old boyfriend's nephews rescued a litter of 3 newborn kittens when they visited me in LA and named him The Big One because he was twice as big as the other two. I kept the whole litter and shortened his name to T B.O. i enlisted neighbors and co-workers to help bottle fed the kittens every 2 hours.

He was very sick at one point when he was young and almost died. It was my sister Laura, an emergency room vet, who diagnosed him long distance at 4 in the morning after i woke her up, and saved his life. Laura saved his life quite a few times.

T.B.O. loved me the most of the three and always wanted to be with me. He loved the outdoors and had many night time adventures. But he always came back. We were so attached. He was so active and fit and seemed much younger than his years. He loved sitting in my lap. And our favorite thing was sleeping until noon or later on weekends He would tap the covers like he was knocking on the door to come in. And he would sleep there, cuddled with me.

I miss him more than I can bear. Thank you everyone for your support and sharing this grief with me.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
Katie - I'm so sorry - I love your TBO remembrance - you two shared great days together. I think of luck and love. You were lucky to have each other, you took the best care of him Katie. You loved him and he loved you right back. Sending hugs!

We were just reminiscing about seeing him as part of a litter of tiny kittens for the first time in your LA apartment right after you’d rescued them from the alley there. He was very lucky to be rescued by you and you were lucky to have found him and have had him in your life for so long. There are fond memories also of a slumber party in Chicago where TBO let us pet him. We will all miss you TBO!!!

I did not know T.B.O., but I do know you, and I cannot stop thinking about what a wonderful cat mom you were to him and to your other cats. T.B.O. lived a loving life because of you. I am so sorry for your loss and I hope you will find peace and you will get to a place where you can remember the good, happy times you had with him over 19 wonderful years.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t think there’s much, if anything, worse than losing a pet. I only got the pleasure of meeting TBO once but he was a genuine sweetie!!

I hope he’s somewhere over the rainbow frolicking with all of the pets that have moved on. The vet office that cared for my furry friends before I moved here has an annual candlelight ceremony for all of the pets that have moved on. I love that they do it.

Giant hugs to you.

Dear Katie,

I’m very sorry for your loss. Although I didn’t really know TBO, it’s apparent that you had a special bond. May his memory be a blessing for you always.
