Aislinn
Aislinn was my best friend for 13 years. She's been with me through multiple homes, multiple fosters, joys and losses, difficulties and triumphs. I will always remember the way she dug her head into my hand for pets, the way she loved chasing squirrels, and the way her snoring warmed my heart. I love her so much and hope you are at peace and at rest.
Aislinn was the best dog ever. She had endless nicknames, Pumpum, Pumpus, Pupperino, and Pumice just to name a few. Even her body parts had nicknames! "Gobble gobble" for her stretchy neck skin and "agu" for the fat deposit above her butt. She even had a lyrics to a song from DOOM: "Pupperino, Pupperino, Gonna pet the Pupperino". For reference: https://youtu.be/Y8vYH2oJUw8?list=PLnEuaHeb-KnbtbaWkuIS_2QV4smnZAAA9 . During long car rides she had all sorts of lyrics created for her from various DOOM songs.
Her personality was extremely sweet and loving to those closest to her. But to any unlucky dog, squirrel, cat, turkey, lizard, rodent, or duck, she was a ferocious beast! She did have some animal friends though, but she was very particular about her friends.
One of my favorite times with Aislinn was taking her to the snow in the mountains for the first time. She became exceptionally excited upon walking in the snow, then started sprinting around at the novelty of such a unique terrain. I especially remember the snow in her beard. It was super cute.
Another memory of her was one day at the beach. She was running around enjoying herself in the sand. She also happened to eat some eggs that day and drank a tiny bit of sea water. Then later that evening she had the most foul and repugnant farts I have ever smelled. They were dubbed, "saltwater egg farts".
One afternoon I remember Aislinn in my parents' backyard. She was sitting outside on the porch and noticed a squirrel scurrying in the distance. She then proceeded to chase it all the way to the back fence where it ran up a tree. She looked up as it climbed, and to her complete confusion, the squirrel fell from the tree and landed next to her on the ground. She was so shocked that even though she could have chomped on the squirrel, she didn't. I don't think she expected that to ever happen. It was like a rule of the universe had been broken since squirrels aren't supposed to fall down while climbing. It was quite a funny and unique sight to see. Another time I remember she could have taken down a coot duck, but let it escape unharmed. She certainly had mercy!
Aislinn was a very social animal. I remember if I made "boof" noises and looked out the window, it would alert her and make her very grumpy, causing her to immediately glare out of the window and start boofing, barking, or growling herself! I also remember playing a firetruck sound from youtube that would cause her to howl. And if the conditions were right, you could get her to howl just by howling yourself! It worked even better if there were multiple people howling. Getting her to howl from your own howl was one of the rarer things that always left you feeling a great sense of primal satisfaction.
Aislinn also loved walks. Just the word would make her run around and jump with joy. You could even get her excited for a walk by asking her, "Hey Aislinn, do you wanna go for a walk?". Eventually, even just saying, "hey, uhhhh, do you..." would make her erupt in a frenzy of excitement.
I remember once she got really sick and was rushed to the animal hospital where she didn't eat for almost 10 days. She finally turned the corner and took her first bite of food during a walk outside of the hospital. I clearly and distinctly remember the happiness I felt in that moment; it was one of the happiest and joyous moments of my life. Aislinn seemed quite pleased with herself too, considering she was eating freshly cooked meat from the supermarket!
Aislinn was the best medicine the world has ever known. Her presence immediately made everyone feel better, lower their blood pressure, reduce anxiety, and improve their mood. She even helped people stop having panic attacks. She was a wonder dog.
The strongest bond I have ever had with any animal was with Aislinn. I cherished my time with her. Thanks Aislinn, you made my life better and made me a better person.
Pupperino pupperino gonna pet the pupperino!
