Nellie & Muffin
For eleven years I was blessed to have two of the most precious cats in my life. Nellie (left) and Muffin (right) were adopted from the Clinton County SPCA in Lock Haven, PA on April 23, 1998 by the staff at the Piper Aviation Museum. Nellie was six and Muffin was three.
They lived at the Museum and quickly won the hearts of everyone they encountered, especially me. Visitors would come to the museum, and often times the first question they asked was “Where are the cats?” Many times the tours had to be delayed because the cats needed their tummies rubbed, and that took priority over anything else.
Although Nellie and Muffin lived in the same household prior to going to the SPCA, as well as being adopted together, they were as different as night and day. Nellie was the soft, quiet, cuddly one and Muffin was the cat with attitude. Each had their own lovable traits, and I feel honored to have been able to spend a few precious years with them and create many cherished memories.
Although losing them both in such a short time (Nellie – December 11, 2008 and Muffin – August 14, 2009) was very difficult, I take comfort knowing they are together again at Rainbow Bridge.
Although they were not my cats, I could not have loved them more had they been mine. They will always hold a special place in my heart, and I miss them every day.
