My husband and I adopted a dog when we were volunteering at Best Friends in April 2012. Her name was Sugar Tart, but we just called her Sugar. She was a black Lab mix and she was 2+ years old when we adopted her. She came back to Redmond, WA with us and there the long love affair began. We moved to Maui, Hawaii in 2016 and she loved walking on the beach. Sugar passed away at the age of 16.5 years old. Our vet was always amazed at her long life (especially for a Lab) and always thanked us for taking such good care of her. We did our best. We loved her so much and she returned that love hundredfold. She had a great personality. Sugar was a very funny girl and constantly made us laugh. We couldn’t get ice out of the refrigerator door without her running to the kitchen; her favorite treat was ice. I couldn’t eat broccoli or watermelon by myself; I had a buddy to share it with. Although we are heartbroken at her passing, we have many wonderful memories to cherish. We know Sugar is on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge and she will be waiting for us!

You are invited to join us the last Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. MT as we remember the lives of pets we have loved and lost. For those who are not able to attend in person, a video recording of each blessing is posted soon thereafter online.
