Zak

2013 – 2025

Zak came to us from South Carolina via Home at Last in Pennsylvania. We live in NJ. He was abused: set on fire so no fur on his back, a missing tooth and ears cut by hand with scissors. Yet he was the most beautiful dog we ever had. Most of the fur grew back. He needed 3 years and therapy to acclimate to visitors. He was selective who he loved but we loved him very much. We thought that with all that the rest of his life would be perfect. He developed arthritis and he struggled to walk despite the fact we did stem cell injections, librela, hydro therapy, massages and other tin based injections ....nothing worked and one 10/20/25 day we had to say goodbye for his benefit not ours. Broken hearts missing Zak.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
