Hops

2010 – 2026

Thank you for helping us to say goodbye to our beloved Hops, who brought joy, spirit, and so much love into our lives for more than 15 wonderful years.

Hops was tiny in size but thought she was the biggest of dogs. She was in charge of every room she entered, and made sure that everyone knew it. For years she kept her brother Barley firmly in line, bossing him around but loving him deeply all the same. When we said goodbye to him last year, she felt his absence in ways that reminded us just how big her heart was.

Hops adored people and never wanted to be alone. When guests came to visit, she was in her element, and when the time came for anyone to leave, she made her feelings known. She never was one to let a good gathering end without a protest.

But there was one person who held the top spot in Hops' heart above all others: her papa. That bond was something truly special, and anyone who saw them together knew it.

Rest in peace, dear Hops. Thank you for the feisty spirit, the fierce love, and the unforgettable moments you brought into our lives. You and Barley are together again now. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
Dear Nagib and Rachel, I know you have a big hole in your heart today. You’ve lost two very special ones all too recently. As everyone knew, Hops’ world was perfect when she had Nagib in hand and especially when she had him all to herself. You were both blessed to have such loving and devoted pets as Hops and Barley. It’s hard to think about one and not the other. Rest in peace. 💞

Hops brought so much light to my dear friends, and to myself when I would visit. She was the true leader and queen of the household. I'll always remember her energy and excitement greeting me, and the little cuddles we would get along the way when she would get used to my presence :)

Queen Hops reigned supreme over all of us and she was full of sweet and spicy until the very end. She definitely had her opinions and was the perfect foil to her chill older brother Barley Boy. She barked like crazy when the party ended as if to say HEY you cannot leave. I'll never forget her at Liz's service - bringing joy as she wandered the parking lot. She loved Papa most of all that was for sure because nobody spoiled her more.

Sending you and Nagib the biggest hug right now. ❤️❤️❤️
