Rascal
It is with a heavy hearts and slightly less messy floors that we announce the passing of Rascal, a French Bulldog who successfully ruled her kingdom for nearly 17 years. She took her final nap last week presumably heading toward the Rainbow Bridge where she will be reunited with the rest of the Duveneck pets. Rascal was a tiny titan of personality - a mix of extreme cuteness and a stubborn streak. For a decade she lived the dream as a "snow dog" ditching the Midwest slush to spend her winters as a carefree expatriate in Mexico. She never quite mastered the Spanish for "drop that taco" but her love of of the finer things, was legendary. She was an enthusiastic of anything you were currently chewing, provided it wasn't a fruit or a vegetable -don't even think about approaching her with a piece of kale unless you wanted to see her obnoxious side in full bloom. Her favorite past times included feeling the wind in her ears on boat rides , embarking on long walks , at her own pace naturally, and being the world's most dedicated shadow. In her twilight years, she adopted a very specific social contract "I touch you, but you don't touch me. It was a rule she enforced with the authority of a tiny cranky judge. If you ignored the rule, well you only made that mistake once. Rascal wasn't just a pet, she was the hilarious, occasionally grumpy and endlessly lovable heart of our family. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter and a void that will be difficult to fill. Vaya con Dios Rascal. May your new home be filled with endless boat rides and not a singe stalk of broccoli in sight. You were loved!!!

Rascal was one of a kind and so very loved. She was lucky to have you all, and you were lucky to have her. I’ll miss seeing you two on your walks at Vida!
Hugs!
