Spidey-Cat

2016 – 2025

We adopted Spiderman (Spidey-Cat / Spidey) in August 2017 shortly after our engagement. We had 8 amazing years together. He was with us through our wedding, IVF, COVID, the loss of family and friends, a move out to the suburbs, the birth of Joseph, job transitions, and so much more.

JoeJoe has never known a day without Spidey until this morning. Spidey made biscuits on my pregnant belly. What other cat would play peek-a-boo with a toddler? What other cat would voluntarily want to spend time around a rambunctious preschooler?

I have so many amazing memories and will cherish him in my heart forever.

We knew he had health issues for the last 3 months but perhaps the last greatest gift he gave us was going peacefully, overnight, on his own terms.

We are in the very early stages of grief and our hearts are absolutely shattered. He was far more than a pet to us, he was an important member of our family.

God of the bereaved,
Grant us to find solace in the days ahead, and peace of mind as time passes.
Let our memories of the years together with Spidey be an endless source of wonder and a tribute to his memory.
Rest in peace.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
