We believe in honoring the lives of pets
Here at Best Friends, animals have such a special place in our lives. We honor those pets we’ve loved and those who need our help today.
At Best Friends, we keep pets in our hearts
Remembrances
Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
I was lucky enough to be there when Bruce was dropped off by an ACO. He had a run in with a porcupine and was wearing a cone. When he walked in the back door he walked up to me until his cone hit my leg and leaned. I immediately fell in love. It’s so nice to see all the love everyone had for Bruce. I’ll miss that big goofy grin♥️
Bruce was loved by so many. He looked so handsome dressed up in his bow tie and did so good meeting people at events. I hope you’re destroying all the stuffy toys up there sweet boy 💙
The most wonderful write up on Bruce and magnificent pictures were provided not by me but by Chris Maxell who like me and others loved Bruce with all of his heart. All I did was make a donation to have this memorial set up and shed a few tears in the process....fly high Bruce. See you at the bridge.
All dogs are unique and Bruce was no different. In fact, he was a special case of cute mixed with relaxed vibes. To know Bruce was to love his spirit. If you had the good fortune of walking with him, he would let you know when it was time for a break. Parking lots, driveways, and walkways were all part of Bruce's resting spots.
Even with the best staff and volunteers, shelter life can be stressful. All we can do is remember that we treated him with love and attention during our times together.
Let's choose to remember the times he made us smile and never forget our impact in the lives of the pets we touch but also the community we serve.
By sharing this pet’s memorial page, you’re helping to keep the memory of a beloved companion close — and you’re helping others understand the place pets forever inhabit in our hearts.
