Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
Today we say goodbye to a true original—a cat whose spirit, heart, and presence filled a home and left an indelible mark on two people who adored him completely.

Pinyon was the heart of Amy and Dave’s world from 2010 to 2025—a span of fifteen years filled with love, adventure, and unforgettable moments. He wasn’t just a pet. He was family. He was a constant. He was home.

With a personality as big as his heart, Pinyon lived life on his own terms and brought his unique magic to every moment. He was an adventurer, a philosopher, and a mighty hunter—sharing his conquests with Amy and Dave in the most generous (and sometimes surprising) ways. He had beds in every corner of the house, a yard he ruled with confidence, and a gaze that seemed to understand more than words ever could.

There was poetry in Pinyon’s soul—an awareness, a quiet wisdom, and a deep, unwavering devotion to his people. He was a constant companion, a source of comfort and laughter, and a witness to years of love and life shared in their home. Wherever Amy or Dave was, Pinyon was never far behind—whether stretched out in a sunny spot or watching the world from the garden with the curiosity of a king surveying his kingdom.

He was loved in the truest, fullest sense of the word—cared for with tenderness, spoken to like a friend, and celebrated every single day of his life. And Pinyon loved back just as fiercely, with the silent depth only an old soul in feline form can offer.

Losing Pinyon leaves a silence that feels impossibly loud. He was one of a kind. But in that silence lives gratitude—for every year, every day, every purr, and every memory.

Pinyon, you were cherished beyond measure. You were brave, beautiful, funny, soulful, and endlessly loved. Thank you for everything you gave. You will never be forgotten.

Rest easy, sweet boy. The garden will always be yours.
