Cascade King

2025

Cascade King. A rescued dog named after waterfalls hated swimming. I thought it was ironic. Perfect. Why change his name? Because I really wanted a dog named Pancake & although he was the perfect color, I left prestigious sounding name alone, lol. You were so smart and so sweet and I’m sorry you had to be rescued & that I couldn’t give you a full life but I’m grateful that I beheld your senior years. You taught me so much & looked out for me in ways a specially trained dog would do you were just intelligently intuitive. By the way I thought you were my ESA but I turned out to be your ESH. That was the one thing I couldn’t train out of you was the separation anxiety due to your PTSD and guess who also turned out to have complex PTSD? You would think it would be the blind leading the blind but there was only balance and grace and love. You came to me shy, fearful of dudes & little kids and by introducing you to love by all peoples, you learned to give it right back & hard! The love I saw exchanged between the beautiful humans that surrounded us and you will never be forgotten. You will never be forgotten. I miss you so much my shadow. Until we meet again. You are always loved.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
