Olivia

2013 – 2024

Miss Olivia,

Losing you was unexpected. I thought I would have many more years with you, even though you were 11 years old, you certainly didn't act like it. You loved being outside in the sunshine and you loved eating anything green; kale, bok choy, broccoli, cucumbers, zucchini, etc. After Bru died last year, it took a little while to find our footing, but we did. We started going places together and I would take you to Assisted Living to visit my parents. Many people loved seeing you and petting you. You brought smiles to many people. You and I were a lot alike. We value independence and didn't need to be going places all the time. We spent a lot of time hanging out, you outside on the porch and me working on my puzzle.

I miss having you around. The energy is completely gone from the house and it's too quiet. I have your bowl next to Bru's where the water dispensers used to be. I haven't cleaned the sliding glass doors or the window since you've been gone, either. I just can't bring myself to wipe those memories away, yet.

I bet Bru was surprised to see you but I hope you two are having a blast together. I imagine you to be running and chasing each other. Jumping and biting each other like you used to do when you were alive. I hope you are enjoying endless days of sunshine. I love you and I miss you. I hope you remember me and please don't forget how much you are loved. I hope to see you again my dear, sweet Oli.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
