Poppy
Poppy was the sweetest and most loving girl. She lived most of her life in Florida. She lived the first years with my Mom, then with my sister until 2023. She came to California to live with me at the beginning of 2024 and she brought a joy to my life that will never be forgotten. She loved car rides and her favorite food was vanilla ice cream. She made my life better each day I had her in it. She suffered from seizures, but was able to live life normally with medication. She loved her daily walks where she would sniff every spot along the way. She loved to be held like a baby and her favorite treat was cheese. We lost her today and it changed the world of my sister and I forever. Her little heart wasn’t able to handle the stress of the seizures any more, and we had to say goodbye to our sweet and beautiful Poppy today. She made my life better in so many ways, and she was my sisters world. No words will ever be enough to express the pain of this loss, but we have so many memories to hold onto forever. Goodbye baby girl. You were loved, adored, and cherished every single moment you were here. I am so grateful to have been able to share this life with such a sweet and amazing girl. We love you Poppy so very much. You had so many nicknames, but pop pop ya don’t stop was always one of my favorite. Rest in peace now baby girl. My heart feels so empty without you because you filled it with so much joy.
This spunky monkey still had it going on at a ripe 14 yrs old, don’t let that grey fur fool ya! She was definitely a character, and even the simplest things for her would actually be some of the funniest for us. Her little swagger walk that was more like a horse trot that would sometimes even leap into a slight Gallup when she would decide it was time to get the zoomies. Going crazy and “digging to China” under the blankets and then popping just her nose and one eye out to see who was watching her (or laughing). Her endless curiosity and inquisitive quests to cover every square inch of every room in the house multiple times in a row, likely forgetting she had already been there 10 mins before, and 10 mins before that, and 10 mins before that too. LOL
And she was always down for a road trip, the girl wanted to go everywhere. She was the ultimate rolling stone. It didn’t matter if we were going wine tasting for the day, or on a walk around Seaport Village in her little doggie stroller I gave her, she just wanted to be part of the party.
My favorite thing though is that even though I wasn’t her family, or even someone she saw often, she ALWAYS came up and greeted me and would come jump on my lap and give me kisses, or would do a little stand-up type move so I could pick her up. It was super endearing to feel like I was part of her “pack”. She lived a long and adventurous life, and ended it in the same home as her two favorite people. What more could anyone ask for, including Poppy herself. She will be missed!
