I never wanted a large dog, a dog that shed, or a male dog…but I got the best dog who changed my life. We saved each other. I loved you your whole life with me and I will love and miss you the rest of mine. You made me smile every day and every day was an adventure with you. No one can ever fill the emptiness I feel without you. Thank you for coming into my life.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
I walked Scouty for Carole starting in March, 2015. Carole told me Scout wasn't a good walker. He would chase squirrels, pull, not listen. So I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked him the first time & he was as good as gold. He walked along, sniffing, marking territory - a perfect gentleman. I enjoyed our walks about as much as he did. They were always peaceful, pleasant times, a good chance to get outdoors. Once I got my dog, Georgie, she loved Scout as much as I did. She was a bad walker for awhile - she would pull ahead, or lag behind. But when she walked with Scout, she & he fell into a good rhythm. She always walked on the right, Scout on the left, side by side. They never annoyed each other; they clearly loved each other's company. They were great friends. Scout was always very patient with George, waiting for her to catch up, or waiting for her to get a drink of water first after every walk. I never had to worry about Scout misbehaving; on the contrary, he always looked after George, to help her behave. He taught her a lot about being a good, well-behaved pup. And after their walks, they had the most fun. They would celebrate their friendship with a wild frenzy of play - growling, snarling, pretend biting - loving every minute of it. When Scout started to slow down, George didn't understand why. She still doesn't know why he stopped being around. She, like us humans, have all missed him immensely. She, like us, were forever touched by his graciousness, kindness & intelligence. We're all better because of him.

Forever rock
Scout, I miss you. I have a lot of fond memories of you. Like when we went to Tim Horton's for your favorite donut holes. We would order and you would take the bag from cashier. When we went to Dairy Queen and got you pup cups. One day, we were talking about the errands we needed to run and you figured out we were going out. You ran and got your leash to go. We laughed so hard. You could be so devilish. I hope you are at peace in doggy heaven. One day I hope to see you and Buddy again. Your mom and I miss you and love you. Lots of love, Aunt Kim
