Riley

2010 – 2024

Riley was our baby for over 13 years. When we adopted her, she was terrified of noises, humans, pretty much everything. It was our sense that she was abused for the first year of her life. However, through lots of patience and unending amounts of love, we showed her that the world was not so scary and that it is good to be a "Hagadog"!
Brett and I are completely broken for now, but we know that we gave her the best life, the best medical care (thank you Dr. Yasso, Dr. Rosenkrantz, and Dr. Fieg), the best homemade human-grade food, daily walks, a basket full of toys, and all kisses and cuddles one dog could handle.
Some of you kind-hearted people who know the pain of losing a four-legged friend may want to send flowers, condolences, or similar after reading this. However, our preference, and if you are moved to do so, is a $5 donation to our favorite charity, Best Friends. Thank you, Tracey

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
To Riley, A beautiful soul who will be deeply missed by anyone who met you. Your gentle spirit left a lasting impression on my heart and gave peace and comfort to everyone you encountered.

Tracey and Brett, I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in knowing you rescued Riley and gave her the best life possible. Your kindness and devotion genuinely reflect the wonderful people you are. Thank you for setting a higher standard and inspiring all pet guardians. Sending you love.

It has been an honor to care for so many of your pets and your dear Riley is no exception. Through your love and devoted care Riley blossomed into a beautiful, serene girl. She enjoyed so many adventures and knew more love than a dog could hope for. She rests in God’s hands now and will watch over you from heaven. ❤️Alison

Heart
We will miss you sweet beautiful Riley! You were so calm and quiet and knew how to get those snuggles and rubs making people smile and just feel better. I loved it when you would jump up on the couch and lay your head in my lap.

I am so sorry to hear about Riley. Although I never had the chance to meet her, your words paint a picture of a truly special and loved member of your family. I understand the pain of losing a beloved pet, having lost one myself last year. It’s a heartache like no other, and my heart goes out to you both during this difficult time.
Hold onto the beautiful memories you have of Riley—they will always be a source of comfort and joy.
