A Best Friends Angels Rest Pet Memorial

Rosie

2009 – 2024

God blessed me on April 2, 2019 when during my first visit to Best Friends, I adopted Rosie (then known as Donner). My girl brought life back into a saddened soul and showed me what true love and loving of self and others was all about….and it was beautiful and she was beyond beautiful. A day never went by that I did not tell my beloved how lucky I was to have her in my life. Each night, paws in hands, I thanked God for this beautiful being in my care and would ask him to please keep her safe.
But on May 28, 2024, as I held my Rosie close, stroked her face, kissed her nose, looked into her beautiful eyes and told her of all my love and devotion for her, of how my heart would always have her in it and that I would think of her every day and how I would always remember that she showed me what life and love was all about and I would never forget her….at 12:15 pm and through a rainfall of tears, I whispered “It’s okay Babygirl. It’s okay. It’s okay to go.” And as I continued to gently hold my girl, she left to become a heavenly angel.
I always realized from the moment I saw Rosie that we were meant to be a “pack”. We were exactly the same in personality and actions except she walked on four paws, and I walked on two. Our connection was easily seen by all around us. We were then and always will be that same pack. I hope I have become a better person using all that Rosie has taught me by sharing with me a part of her life. I pray that I will always make Rosie proud. Because our connection was so strong on earth, I believe it will continue as she patiently waits for me.
But for now, I am a heartbroken and lost soul without her heartdog. Day to day. Step by step. Minute to minute. Breath to breath is the best I can give anyone.
You are my Rosie.
My only Rosie.
You make me happy all the time.
I hope you know how much I love you.
Please just stay, just stay by my side.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
