Kaia

2011 – 2026

Kaia was my constant companion and most wonderful, loving best friend, who made me laugh every day, who gave me unconditional love, and who I would have kept forever if I could. She was and is the light of my life. I had Kaia from the age of 8 weeks, to the age of 14 years and 9 months. She loved to play with her toys, go on walks, sniff the flowers and the pee-mail, go on adventures with me on hikes and walks by the ocean, snuggle on the couch and on the bed, hang on our deck to watch the sunset for yappy hour, and go in the car for fun excursions. I tried to give her the best live ever, because their lives are so short, and she deserved all the happiness I could give her, because that's what she gave me. She had a lot of medical issues over the years, with mitral valve disease finally taking its toll. I was lucky to have her as long as I did, but it would never have been enough time. I will miss her every day of my life, until I see her again when it's my time to cross the rainbow bridge to. meet her. Her birthday was Oct. 18th and I created an ofrenda this year to celebrate her birthday and her life.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
