Here at Best Friends, animals have such a special place in our lives. We honor those pets we’ve loved and those who need our help today.

Remembrances
Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
For fourteen years, you filled Nancy and Ron’s home with your presence, your companionship, and the quiet, unconditional love that only a cherished animal can give. You were family.
I know there are no words large enough for the emptiness your passing leaves behind. I pray that Nancy and Ron are able to grieve you gently and fully, surrounded by the memories of the great love shared with you.
And sweet Bess, you could not have been more fortunate in the people you chose to walk beside. Nancy’s love for animals has touched my own life so deeply. The way she protects them, honors them, and recognizes the sacredness of every living being sends such a beautiful and healing vibration into this world. How blessed you were to be loved by her and Ron, and how blessed they were to be loved by you.
I hope that somewhere beyond what we can see, you are young again, running freely, surrounded by light, carrying with you every ounce of the love that was poured into you during your fourteen beautiful years. You have left paw-prints etched forever on their hearts.
Rest peacefully, beautiful, Bess. You will be cherished always.
By sharing this pet’s memorial page, you’re helping to keep the memory of a beloved companion close — and you’re helping others understand the place pets forever inhabit in our hearts.
What a beautiful and deeply beloved soul you are.
