Max

2008 – 2025

Max was 8 years old when I acquired him from a friend in Bend, Oregon who could not take care of him at the time. He'd had 4 owners in the previous year. I drove him to Fresno that day. He had nothing to do with me on the drive. The first day at home, he jumped the fence and escaped. After days of searching, I found him at the pound. They wouldn't let me take him home at the time because his chip was registered to his first owner and no one knew where she was. I sat with him and another dog in his pen for several days. He was very possessive of me. He wouldn't even let me pet the other dog. When I brought him home from the pound, he had nothing to do with my mom. But he eventually came around and loved her too. He was a very loving dog. Love you Max

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
