"Bonsai" Shackelford

2025

Bonsai was my buddy, my friend, and my constant companion. When I would go to bed at night, he would jump up on the bed, walk up to near my head and wait for me to let him know that it was OK - as though he was asking permission to curl up next to me on the pillow. We had a lot of great years together. HIs passing was one of the hardest things that I have endured. He is missed terribly. But my hope is that he is in Heaven now, playing with other cats, and enjoying green grass and warm sunshine while waiting for the day we are reunited.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
