Sweetie Tesdall

2010 – 2025

Sweetie came into my life on 6/26/2013 when I adopted her from The Denver Dumb Friends League. She had been turned in by her previous owners because she had scratched their dresser. They had her since she was a kitten, and she was 3 years old when I adopted her. I brought her home to my apartment at Alta Springs that day, but within an hour or less, I called the clinic at the shelter and made an appointment to bring Sweetie back to the shelter immediately to be examined by the veterinarian. I realized that she was very sick. The vet examined her and diagnosed her with pneumonia and Rhinotracheitis. She was admitted to the shelter hospital as an ICU patient. She was touch and go for about 3 days. The vet techs force-fed her each day. The doctor wanted me to come see her every day so that she would realize that I had adopted her and would not just give up. She survived this very scary ordeal and came home to live with Rudy and I for the next five and a half years until we moved from Denver to Arkansas in late December of 2018. I have many treasured memories of Sweetie and her silly antics. We adopted a small dog in Sept. 2019. Rudy died of pancreatic cancer in the spring of 2021. I waited for almost a year before adopting Meeko from Best Friends Animal Shelter in Bentonville. In December of 2022, we adopted a third cat, Charlie, who we had previously fostered for a month the previous spring. The three cats became wonderful friends to each other. Lucky was their canine friend, although they had to learn to get along with this reactive little guy. I miss Rudy and Sweetie so much. They were wonderful companions for me. I don't have the words to do them justice. Rudy is the orange tabby. Sweetie is the white and gray beauty with one blue eye and one green eye.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
