Sadie

2009 – 2025

We (Sadie’s dog dads Chris and Kenneth) met Sadie while volunteering at Best Friends in Dogtown Heights on July 20, 2012. We wanted to take a dog for an overnight visit and the staff suggested we take Sadie because her roommate had been adopted and she was missing him. We took her back to our room for an overnight. That night, our instant connection was made and our lives forever changed for the better. Sadie came to live with us in her forever home on September 20, 2012. She passed away 12 ½ years later on February 11, 2025.

Sadie was an amazingly beautiful girl inside and out. She took such good care of us and gave us so much – love, adventure, kindness, confidence, understanding, sensitivity, joy and laughter. Sadie’s presence and spirit were felt by everyone who met her. We made so many special human and dog friends through Sadie who have become our family. Especially close and important is Shannon, who was Sadie’s dog walker/sitter and very best friend. Shannon has added so much life and love to our family and provided Sadie with an extraordinary amount of fun, love, adventure and doggie friends. Sadie touched so many people. Our friend Jeanette described our life with Sadie as us having “had the most wonderful, magical life filled with love, happiness and adventure”. Our friend Gabe said Sadie’s “humor, spirit, love and intelligence were always on display”.

Sadie, you will always be a part of us. We will always remember your loving and soulful heart, incredible sweetness, beautiful soft coat and fluffy tail, soul-piercing caramel eyes, super expressive eyebrows, beautiful smile, little and attentive ears, adventures in the woods, trails and beaches, running and spinning, rides in the car, lounging on your blanket in your favorite parks, porching, relaxing in your porch cabana, cuddling and flirting with your doggie boyfriends. We miss you so much. Nose kiss! Big hug!

Thank you to all of those who helped in caring for Sadie: Shannon at "I Love Your Dog Marin", East San Rafael Vet Clinic, Fairfax Vet Clinic, Pets Referral Center, Gabe and Patricia at Ripples of Relief acupuncture, dog sitter/friend Edward, reiki and communication with Kathleen.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
