A Best Friends Angels Rest Pet Memorial

PollyAnna

2005 – 2022

Polly was such a sweet and funny dog. She was sassy. Overall, like me. She just ran with it and amplified it to 1000. LOL! They say dogs will take on their person's personality and she definitely did. I was not her owner, she was not my pet. I was mommy and she was my daughter. She was my baby. The best child I could ever have. God blessed me with such a beautiful being. When I asked for a baby, I was thinking a human, but He gave me something far more precious. A dog! I never knew a dog like Polly. When she was sweet, she really was. She gave hugs, loved to be so affectionate at times. She was such a goofball too. She had me laughing multiple times a day. I can't say enough good things about her. I miss her so much, everyday. Being a mom to her was the best years of my life and I enjoyed every moment with her, even the not so great ones. Though she was a little stinker at times and towards others, I wouldn't have traded her for the world. When I went to adopt a puppy. I didn't think all pet stores got their puppies from puppy mills. I trusted that she wasn't. I didn't think it was a bad thing purchasing a dog. But after being a mom to a dog. Please never ever do that. Shelter or breeder, and please check the breeder out. 6 months after I adopted Polly, as I will never say purchase. I believe I rescued her from a life as her mother had. I found out the store was closed from selling puppy mill puppies. I was definitely blessed as she was very healthy. The only 2 things wrong with her, was, her 1 ear looked like it was broken. Maybe from a sibling laying on her in the wound, but she was a single puppy. Meaning she was the only 1 at the time, her mom gave birth to. Polly also had some mental problems. I joke and say that could be from me since she did take on my personality. LOL! But she did. I tried her on all sorts of meds but it made her like a zombie, she wasn't herself. So I decided I rather she be mental at times and happy, than behaved and sad. Polly got a liver infection when she was 11 years old from a groomer. She never fully bounced back after that. But, she did have some moments she did get better. God had His hand on her for sure. She has kidney failure and I switched her food to The Farmer's Dog and she did not have kidney failure anymore. But she would go on to have lung and liver infections, a uti, dementia and arthritis. As dogs get older and dementia is in its last stage, dogs forget to eat and drink. Between not wanting to get up anymore from the pain of arthritis and dementia, she just lost all will to live. I remember adopting her like it was yesterday and I also remember her passing like it was yesterday. I believe all dogs have a soul, and go back to God when they pass on. He made them. So why wouldn't they go back to Him? I know Polly is in Heaven and I will see her again. I do not agree with puppy mills, but if you are blessed as I was to rescued such a sweet life, please do it. Save them. That's what Best Friends do. They go in and rescue animals so they can have a great life. But please do not buy from a store. Think of it as an adoption. You don't go to a store and buy a baby human. So why would you an animal? I fell in love with Best Friends when my grandma and I watched a special on The Animal Planet. It was them rescuing dogs from Michael Vick's place. It made us cry. Cry because of sadness such evilness happened but also for joy to see someone caring so much for dogs. That's who everyone should adopt from. Someone who loves like Best Friends do. I think a lot of them like I do Saint Jude's. So, if you feel lead to donate, know that you are actually helping save a life. You are helping Best Friends continue in their dream of helping animals. That includes resources, transportation in rescuing. So, if they need a van, they wanna make sure they get 1 that won't break down, blankets, so 1s that are nice, not paper thin, etc. They put in a lot of care into what they do. So, when they ask for donations, please keep in mind, what all that goes into it. If you only have a dollar, every bit adds up, so it counts. It's appreciated. If you are reading this, you came here either to read about my baby cause you know me, you know about Best Friends or you are looking for ways of helping animals. So, for whichever reason you are reading this. I hope not just my message, but others will help you in deciding in helping. God Bless those that are reading and to Best Friends.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
I remember my "niece" from when you first showed me her picture years ago, She wasn't spoiled at all, she was just well loved. Now she and Gator are running through the fields in heaven together.
