Rooster

1998 – 2024

Rooster was a good ole boy. Handsome, ornery, and stubborn, but a trusted companion to all those who had the pleasure of riding him. He took us on so many pleasant walks through the woods and gave countless kids and adults their first horseback ride. Our nieces, nephews, and now their children grew up on Rooster and his sidekick, Daisy, who passed in 2023. They will forever be the OG of CareDan Farm. Our hearts are broken, and our pastures are lonely, but we are thankful that Rooster and Daisy are together again. We love you, Rooster. You've earned your wings.

Remembrances

Leaving a personal story, memory, or words of support for a pet’s family is a heartfelt way to pay tribute and provide comfort. As part of your remembrance, we also invite you to leave a virtual token along with your words — similar to our tradition here at the Sanctuary of leaving stones, beloved items, or small toys on the graves of cherished animals.
Rooster was so patient with the girls and I each time we came to visit. His ability to cultivate a pumpkin crop was admirable. Rooster have fun with your best buddy up there. Your horse shoes can not be filled.🩷

love heart
Rooster was a stubborn good ole boy for sure. Rooster and Daisy were the reason I got into loving horses so much and were the horses I learned how to ride on. They were there from my beginning to now. It was their joyful memories that I had with them that made me decide to study to be a veterinarian. They were like an old married couple: Rooster being ornery and stubborn sometimes and Daisy being the sunshine to his world. Together they represented the powerful influence that horses can have on our lives. They will be dearly missed and always have a forever place in my heart. Rest easy Rooster, you earned your place in heaven.

Forever rock
Rooster gave all who came to CareDan Farm great memories to come back to. Quite the personality was evident throughout the years. Rooster (& Daisy) were the destination the farm was built around and will be missed. What a great life you gave him and what great experiences he gave us! We have so many pics of those. Wish I could share here.
